Summer Camp 2008 |

New This Summer Greetings to all new and returning families! Summer camp is continuing to evolve! I am excited to offer an expanded program this year, thanks to the addition of Keilayn Skutvik a talented artist, teacher and friend who brings her knowledge and inspiration in a variety of media, creating for us the opportunity to carry our ceramics projects a step further, resulting in completed works with a multi-media twist. We have some wonderful ideas and we can’t wait to share them with your children this summer! This summer’s sessions are expanded to include a greater variety of art forms for the children to experience. Projects will be selected that are appropriate for the skill level of each child. Work can be as simple or elaborate as each child desires. We will balance structured learning with creative play, stories and games and activities the children inspire. All sessions are Monday through Friday.
In the Ceramics sessions, we will explore the world of form and function using various hand building techniques and drawing from the vast pool that inspires our creativity. Our process will vary, from looking at shapes and textures that we see every day, in a different way, to working on projects collaboratively, and emulating aspects of art we appreciate in images we admire. There will also be opportunities for the children to try their hand at the potter’s wheel.
In the Mixed Media sessions we will explore a variety of creative/arts mediums, many which will come directly from nature. We will discover the colors of nature through dye making and printing, as well as exploring other creative applications as we expand the horizons of our ceramics work into a larger arena of “Art”. Our experience will engage the entire body and all the senses.
Morning Session: 9:30-1:00 Includes a snack and lunch break Afternoon Session: 1:00-4:00
Nutritious snacks will be provided each day (no artificial anything, organic whenever possible), and fresh, cold water is always available for campers. Please send your child with a healthy lunch. For more information call: 919 933-3687
